Cocoon

We found something in the dirt the other day.
Hubby found it a few inches under the soil.
We, perhaps, should have known what it was.  It was in the north side of the strawberry patch, where a tomato plant had grown.  Yup.  We found a hornworm cocoon.

Since we weren't sure what is was when we found it, we stuck
it in a jar with some dirt and then half buried it in the ground.
I'm not sure we should let it become a moth.  I'm interested in seeing what it looks like, but I sure don't want it to produce more hornworms.  Not that the chickens would mind...
