Chickens? Yes, chickens.

For a while now, my hubby has wanted chickens.  I have been reluctant.  What do we know about raising chickens?  Well, we are about to find out.

Next week, four cluckers are headed into town with our name on them.  And we made a home for them.  We found the one spot in the yard that meets local regulations and started building.  Our two year old thought we were making something for her.  I don't think she'll mind when she sees our new family members, four Red started pullets.  We went with the juveniles because they will begin laying sooner and because we thought they may be a little more forgiving with our inexperience.

The best location for the coop is right by the house.
Getting the framework together.
She thinks it's for her.
Walls up.
Painted the coop, working on the run.
Inside the run.
Roosts on the far side, feeders on the near left.
The Coop.
There's only one thing left to do to be ready for them.  We're waiting on some parts to complete the watering system.  We decided to use the little cups and piping to hopefully limit evaporation and keep a good supply of clean water flowing.

The anticipation is building.  We're excited for our new family members to get here!!
