Garden in the Desert: Change is in the Air, or at Least the Backyard

After a lovely week of 20 below normal temperatures, we've gone back into the ninety's. Blah. At least we've been able to keep the ac off. Unfortunately, the funky weather has sent our plants into confusion. A second little bunch of grapes has started. The lettuces are bolting. On a good note, the pablano peppers have finally started growing. We were starting to wonder.

We let the little chickens out with the big girls and discovered that they all get along great. So great that we decided to put them together in the same coop. And while the little coop works fine for now, when the little ones get to a laying age, it may be a bit cramped with two nesting boxes. We thought about modifying it, but there were a few other things that we thought we might like to change. So we decided to change the old playhouse turned baby coop. We got everybody to accept sleeping in the little one for now and started work on the other. As we were tearing the siding off, we noticed the frame was a little wobbly. And then we started looking at the roof, which we've always bumped our head on the low side and decided the roof needed to change. At this point we decided that the floor looked good, lets start there. Then we knocked the roof and walls down. When we got down to the floor, we moved it around to where we want the coop to be. As I type, my hubby's building walls. I should probably get out there.
