Windy Weekend

And what do we do?  Why, shovel dirt, of course.  But I'll get to that later...

Our fruit trees are blooming!!

And the bees are finding them...

Back near the trees we added two new planters.  We're thinking it will be for more lettuce, beans, and more carrots.  And as always, we are trying to learn to space the planting every few weeks so the supply of ready food will be more consistent for us.  Especially in the carrot area...

The Chinese cabbage has started to bolt, so I pick a few each time
we're having a salad and toss it in.

We pulled the stubs of last year's pepper plants.  They were hollowing out and we didn't see signs of new growth.

The long bed.  Romaine with a bonus Swiss chard in the front.  The first beans we planted
were attacked to oblivion, so we're trying again.  Broccoli and Diakon radishes are doing great.  

We set up the last tire in a spot that the grape roots have taken over.  We haven't had anything grow there
for a while, so we blocked it with plastic so the roots can't grow up into the tire and let the little one plant
some flower seeds.  We'll see if she can keep herself from digging them up before they have a chance to sprout.

Cabbage.

We spent the last couple of days moving blocks and dirt.  We wanted a little more room on the upper deck where the animals live, so we pulled the block wall apart and rebuilt it a few feet away.  We used a couple of truckloads of topsoil to fill it in and to fill in the planters on the other side of the house.

The wall used to be just this side of the fence and gate.  It doesn't look like a whole lot, but
I think the goats will appreciate the extra space to move around.
